Welcome

Buffalo Speedskating membership is open to skaters of all ages and abilities, from those just learning to skate to experienced speedskaters.

As a club, we provide skating and training opportunities year round (except April). Our regular season runs from September through March at two Buffalo rinks, Cazanovia and Riverside. On Sundays we skate at Cazanovia from 1:00pm to 1:50pm, and on Wednesdays at Riverside from 6:00pm to 6:50pm.

In addition, during our regular season, friends of Buffalo Speedskating have arranged for dedicated Ice at Buffalo State College on Friday mornings from 8:00am to 9:50am. There are no pads, but for an hour and fifty minutes you can skate laps, working on technique, stamina, and straight-a-way development.

Our summer season runs from May through August, at the Northtown Center in Amherst, where we skate on Saturdays from 8:00am to 9:50am . This eight week program is open to members of Buffalo Speedskating, Rochester Speedskating and those that have completed our Learn To Skate Program during our regular season.

During the spring and summer months, many of our members and friends also get together for off ice training. This free Dryland program runs from June through August on Mondays at Chestnut Ridge Park, and on Thursdays at Delaware Park, both nights from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

In addition to speedskating many of our members also participate (and in many cases compete) in a wide variety of sports. We have among others; runners, cyclists, kayakers, inline skaters, curlers, hockey players, x-country skiers, squash and tennis players, and even a race walker! Many of our accomplished athletes are happy to share their enthusiasm for these sports, affording our members the opportunity to learn about, and try out a variety of activities.

Our growing club is available to anyone with the desire to train with, and learn from, a great group of skaters. Our coaches and members provide a friendly and supportive environment in which to learn and excel. And most importantly, above all else, we always emphasize fun and safety. So... whether you're skating to compete, or simply for fun and fitness, together we will help you reach your individual goals and potential.

If you have any questions, or are interested in joining us, please drop us a note, give us a call, or better yet stop by a practice. We would enjoy meeting, and showing you why skating around and around on 17" blades is such great fun.
